More Christmas lights are being used to brighten the streets and spirits of neighbours during a pandemic Christmas.
Saskatoon’s Carrie Gauthier decided it was the perfect time to pull out all the stops with her Christmas lights at 710 Paton Way.
“This year I just figured with COVID and all the negativity and the stress around, I wanted to just go all out,” she said.
Gauthier has always wanted her house to be a stop on Saskatoon’s Twinkle Tour.
“We do the Twinkle Tour every year and I wanted to finally make it one year, for people to come by and look at our decorations and our lights and hopefully create some joy and magic this season,” she said.
At 600 Deer Court in Warman, Karl Hamilton has the same idea and will string about 7,500 lights this year.
“Because of the way COVID has been, I decided to put a lot more lights up,” he said about the 2,000 lights he will add this year. “The neighbourhood likes it. I am out there hanging lights and people are honking and giving thumbs up, so it makes it worth it.”
Hamilton says if there are no train cars in the way, people can see the lights on his house when driving by on Highway 11.
