A 34-year-old Regina woman was issued a $2,800 ticket Tuesday for hosting a private indoor gathering that violated a public health order put in place to limit the spread of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan.
On Sunday, officers were sent at about 5 p.m., to a location in the 3100 block of Arens Road for a report of a private gathering that was in violation of the public health order limiting attendance at such events to a maximum of five people.
Arriving at the scene, officers found a get-together comprising 12 people.
According to the Regina Police Service, officers told the residents they were violating the public health order. On Tuesday, police returned to the address and issued a ticket.
“This incident is not a criminal offence,” the police said in a media release. “The charge is a Summary Offence Ticket Information (SOTI), under a Provincial Statute.”
The name of the woman who received the ticket wasn’t released.
