While there isn’t a lot for most of us to celebrate after a blizzard dumped 30 to 40 centimetres of snow on Saskatoon, there is at least one group thankful for it.
Rob Letts is a co-chair of Optimist Hill at Diefenbaker Park. He says they’re hoping to open the hill in early December.
“That was pretty much a godsend to get that much snow onto our hill in that period of time,” said Letts. “That’s going to give us a phenomenal base.”
This year, snowboarders, skiers and tubers have something extra to look forward to, with a second lift expected to be installed by the middle of next month.
“We’re just excited to get the hill going again and get people out doing what we would kind of call a safe outdoor activity because you can’t help but be socially distant on the hill,” said Letts.
Optimist Hill opened for its first full winter season in 2019.
