The massive undertaking to clean up Saskatoon streets after last week’s storm is nearing the finish line.
In an update Monday morning, General Manager of Transportation and Construction, Terry Schmidt said the city is three days ahead of schedule clearing neighbourhood streets.
“Progress is better than anticipated and many neighbourhoods have been bumped up the schedule. Should this pace continue, we’re estimating having completed the driving lanes on every residential street, in every neighbourhood by Tuesday.”
Once the city-wide clearing is complete crews will return to neighbourhoods to begin removing snow. Schmidt said that could start as early as this week.
A combination of 300 city and private contractors are operating around the clock on the city’s storm response.
The neighbourhood clearing schedule can be found on the city’s website.
