Two more people diagnosed with COVID-19 in Saskatchewan have died.
Both were from the north-central region. One person was in their 80’s or older, the other was in their 20’s.
The Ministry of Health reported the deaths in a Sunday press release along with the newest case numbers.
There were 181 new cases reported, along with 63 recoveries. The active total is now 1,807. Since the virus came to Saskatchewan, there have been 5,001 cases in the province. Of those, 3,163 people have recovered.
Of the new cases, 64 are in Saskatoon, 28 are in Regina, 18 are in the southeast zone, there are 16 in the northwest area, 10 are in the south-central region, there are nine each in the far northwest and north-central areas, 7 are in the far northeast, 2 are in the central-west region, and the central-east and southwest zones have one each.
The location is still under investigation for 10 cases.
62 people are in the hospital. 46 of those are receiving inpatient care: 25 in Saskatoon, four each in the north-central and southeast zones, three each in the northwest and northeast zones, two each in Regina and the southwest area and one each in the far northwest and south-central regions.
16 people are in the ICU. Seven are in Saskatoon, there are three each in Regina and the north-central zone, two in the central-east area and one in the northwest.
There were 2,967 tests performed in the province Saturday.
Around an hour after the cases were announced Sunday, Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe tweeted a thread about COVID-19.
Sadly, we are reporting two more COVID-related deaths today – one person in their 20s and another in their 80s, both from the north central region. Our deepest condolences to the families and friends of these two individuals.

He offered his condolences to the families of the two with COVID whose deaths were announced Sunday. He also added to Saskatchewan residents to “assume it’s in your community.”
Moe added that “In consultation with public health officials, further measures are being considered.”
He offered no details as to which additional measures are being considered, at this time.
