Eight Saskatoon Public Schools (SPS) high schools and four Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools (GSCS) will move to Level 3 status under the Safe Schools Plan after Friday’s announcement by the provincial government regarding enhanced measures to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
The changes are set to take place next Thursday.
Level 3 status includes attending in-class learning for a reduced amount of time while completing some learning activities independently at home when students aren’t in school.
The SPS schools making the move are Aden Bowman, Bedford Road, Centennial, Evan Hardy, Marion M. Graham, Mount Royal, Tommy Douglas and Walter Murray.
Some public high schools will not be affected due to enrolment size. Those include City Park School, Nutana Collegiate and Royal West Campus. Schools with enrolment of less than 600 are excluded from the Level 3 shift.
In the GSCS, the schools moving to Level 3 are Bethlehem Catholic High School, Bishop James Mahoney High School, Holy Cross High School and St. Joseph High School.
