The City of Saskatoon says progress on residential snow clearing is being made after the weekend blizzard that brought huge amounts of snow and high winds to the city.
As of Friday morning, the City says residential snow clearing is complete in Kensington, Stonebridge, Eastview, Holiday Park and Brighton.
Snow clearing is now underway in six more residential neighbourhoods, including Dundonald, Rosewood, Hampton Village, Lakeridge, Arbor Creek and Evergreen. Work is also scheduled to begin Friday in Wildwood, Buena Vista, Mayfair, Silverwood Heights, Erindale and Montgomery.
Terry Schmidt, general manager of transportation and construction for the city, said nearly 300 workers are helping clear the snow.
Schmidt cautioned that children shouldn’t play in the snow piles, as the huge accumulations of snow presents a dangerous situation if children are climbing on the snow piles or building tunnels through them.
Residents were also asked not to push snow out onto the street when clearing sidewalks and driveways, as this can clog the streets with even more snow and that will continue to create accessibility issues.
