Well, you may not like Joe Biden.
But if you’re a stick-to-sports whiner who doesn’t like seeing protests during your sports, you should be thrilled Joe Biden is now president-elect of the United States and a woman of African and South Asian descent, Kamala Harris, is vice president-elect.
Biden won’t call players SOBs for kneeling for the anthem or fan the flames of discontent among African American athletes.
Those headlines sparked the story and then Donald Trump added fuel to the fire.
Now, let’s be real. Trump was not the reason for systemic racism and Joe Biden isn’t the cure-all, either.
This is more about leadership and it’s already clear the loudest athletes — especially LeBron James — are feeling a sense of relief to have a different president in the White House.
The amount of time we all spend talking about athletes and Trump will decrease by 100 per cent, thankfully.
The players will continue to use their platforms but they won’t be fighting with the president. They’ll be fighting for a cause and the rhetoric will have a less contentious and more uplifting feel going forward.
