Mild temperatures and snow on Saturday combined with high winds and colder temperatures made for icy roads all across Saskatoon on Sunday.
While many people across the city were hunkering down indoors to wait out the storm, Lindsay Neu reached for his skates and hockey stick to make the most of the situation.
“I pulled up home, seen a nice sheet of ice, so I thought I would go for it,” Neu said.
The 31-second moment was captured by his cousin Courtney Saliken and shared on social media.
Neu figured he could have added one more prop to make the video the quintessential Canadian moment.
“Maybe I should have added a (cup of) Tim Horton’s on me,” he said.

Neu doesn’t mind some harsh weather and liked the idea of having some fun outside on the ice-covered Winnipeg Avenue where the video was recorded.
“Challenge accepted. I like it all. I like driving through it, I like snow,” he said.
The idea of seeing himself all over social media is new to Neu, but he’s enjoying every bit of his short-lived fame.
“I just wanted to make a little funny Snapchat video for my family and friends. Next thing I know people are sending it all around and I’ve been getting messages,” Neu said. “Everything is blowing up, it’s cool.”
As far as other plans for the rest of the blizzard, Neu is planning on staying close to home and enjoying a beverage or two until the weather blows over.
“Maybe do some shovelling, and maybe pop over to my brother’s house for a hot tub and a pint.”
