Saskatoon police shot a man with a taser who they say was threatening people with a knife on Thursday.
Police were initially called about a knife-wielding suspect in the 300 block of Circle Drive West. The suspect was tracked to a location a few blocks away on Haskamp Street.
It was there police say the suspect holding a knife allegedly lunged an an officer. The conducted energy weapon (CEW) was used to subdue him after he ignored commands to drop the knife.
Medavie Health Services assessed the 35-year-old man at the scene.
He is scheduled to appear in court Friday to facing multiple charges including, assault with a weapon on a police officer, threats to cause injury or death, assault with a weapon, possessing a weapon dangerous to the public, carrying a concealed weapon and fail to comply with a court order.
The CEW deployment will be reviewed as per police policy.
