A Saskatoon youth sports program is dealing with multiple positive COVID-19 cases.
According to its Facebook page, Saskatoon Youth Soccer Incorporated (SYSI) has had three diagnosed cases of COVID-19 since Oct. 24.
“Those in the affected mini league have been notified with an additional email specific to them. If you do not receive a specific email to your mini league, your mini league has not been affected,” a release posted to SYSI’s Facebook page reads.
Its facility was cleaned once receiving notification of the positive COVID-19 cases, with none of the participants involved in soccer activities since. It has caused the shutdown of two mini-leagues for 14 days.
A possible exposure was detected last Wednesday at the Saskatoon Sports Centre, according to the SYSI release. Individuals there from 5 to 6:45 p.m. should self-monitor for 14 days. If they experience symptoms, call the HealthLine 811 and self-isolate.
The risk of exposure to anyone not considered a close contact is low.
“We remind all those who will be attending soccer functions to monitor for any signs/symptoms of COVID-19 and remind you that all members are obligated to not attend events in any capacity if they have any symptoms, (are) feeling ill, or has been in contact with someone who is ill,” the SYSI release reads.
The Saskatoon Sports Centre is located on the 100 block of Nelson Road in Saskatoon.
