The 21st annual C95 Radio Marathon for Breast Cancer Research reached a significant milestone this year.
At 6 p.m. on Thursday, radio personalities Shauna Foster and Rob Suski announced the campaign had reached $5-million raised since it began in 2000.
The radio marathon was created by Lisa Rendell, a former C95 morning show host, who was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer after a vertebra in her neck collapsed. She died from the disease in 2011.
“Twenty one straight years. I don’t know if Lisa could have ever dreamed of this. She leaves this legacy of research,” said Suski.
Every dollar raised stays in the province supporting patient treatment and care, research, plus early detection and prevention programs.
