How good are Canadian football players? Damn good and the rest of the football world has slowly been taking notice.
There are more and more Canadians being drafted in the National Football League. You have N’Keal Harry and Chase Claypool as young receivers making noise. Running back Chuba Hubbard will be a high draft pick.
And on Thursday, the CFL released its top prospects for the 2021 Canadian draft and, for the first time ever, we saw the entire top 10 coming from schools south of the border.
It’s a great indication of how good the quality of football is in the high schools in Canada with more NCAA schools recruiting from Canada. And with the higher quality of coaching and minor football, the better the Canadian product is for our universities.
There is a debate that continues on whether the CFL should have more or fewer Canadian starters. The continued surge in Canadians going to top schools and the top pro league show the Canadian talent is just fine and in no way should be reduced in this country’s professional league.
