A 30-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of 22-year-old Brandon Applegate.
In a release Friday, police say the accused was arrested Thursday evening by members of the Saskatoon Police Service’s Guns and Gangs Unit at a home in the 200 block of Avenue L South.
On Sunday morning, police responded to a business in the 1000 block of Eighth Street East for the report of an injured person.
Emergency responders found the victim, identified as Applegate, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital where he later died of his injuries.
Investigators believe the incident was not random and that the accused was known to the victim.
The 30-year-old man is scheduled to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Tuesday morning.
The death of Applegate marked Saskatoon’s 12th murder of 2020.
