Regina Mayor Michael Fougere also criticized the speech, calling it a missed opportunity to show compassion for those struggling in the west. MP Jim Carr is Prime Minister Trudeau’s Special Representative for the Prairies, and he joins Mike to discuss the speech and its chilly reception in Saskatchewan.

11:00 – The Canadian Taxpayers Federation is applying to intervene in the court case of a B.C. hunting business taking the federal government to court over the recent changes to Canada’s gun control laws. CTF director Kris Sims says the bans on specific firearms have left Cassandra Parker’s business holding tens of thousands of dollars in now-frozen stock that she can’t sell or return, and they see the regulations as harmful to taxpayers and unhelpful for reducing crime. Sims joins Mike to explain why they’re applying to intervene in the case, and how Canada’s new gun control rules affect the taxpayer.
