The Toronto Blue Jays took advantage of the shortened season and the expanded playoff format to launch themselves into October baseball for the first time since 2016.
Back then it was Jose Bautista, Josh Donaldson and crew, complaining and whining and bat flipping. Was it fun to watch Blue Jays baseball? Of course! Were they the most likable group? I wasn’t a big fan to say the least.
This group of Jays, however, with hard-working young second generation pro ball players of Vladdy Guerrero Jr., Bo Bichette and Cavan Biggio are a much more likable group to see develop into contenders.
Hopefully this is just the beginning. Of course, in a normal season, the Jays would still be struggling to find one of the wild-card berths, but this wasn’t supposed to be the season to expect a jump to contender status. However, the experience to come in the playoffs will be extremely valuable for this group.
If the Jays can get more consistent pitching, look out because we may soon be in for a regular dose of Blue Jays baseball carrying into October.
