Drivers on some of Saskatchewan’s roads will start seeing and feeling improvements.
The provincial government announced Wednesday it’s investing $16.5 million to improve roads in 55 rural municipalities across the province.
The money is from the government’s two-year, $7.5-billion investment in infrastructure and is part of a three-year plan operated in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities (SARM).
The Rural Integrated Roads for Growth (RIRG) program is to help RMs upgrade 100 roads, bridges and culverts over its run.
“Infrastructure is fundamental to the movement of goods and services,” SARM president Ray Orb said in a media release.
“Rural Saskatchewan is home to resource-based industries and supporting rural municipalities to maintain and build roads will help the economic recovery of the province.”
The provincial government said it’s investing$300 million in roads and highways around Saskatchewan over the next two years.
