A 56-year-old man is facing impaired driving charges after emergency crews responded to a rollover and entrapment on Circle Drive on Tuesday.
In a release, Saskatoon police say they were called to the single-vehicle rollover at Circle Drive South and 11th Street West at about 5:30 p.m.
Fire crews had to partially remove the roof of the vehicle to get the driver out.
Police say the man did not have significant injuries and a 41-year-old woman who was a passenger in the vehicle was also not injured.
The man is charged with impaired driving and exceeding the legal alcohol limit.
He’s to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court at a later date.
Early morning impaired driving incident
Police say in a separate impaired driving incident early Wednesday morning, a man is facing charges after refusing to stop for police.
In a release, police say at about 12:05 Wednesday morning, officers noticed a Jeep Cherokee driving without its lights on, at a high rate on speed on Warman Road near Circle Drive.
Police saw the suspect drive over a meridian and evasively through parking lots.
A traffic stop was attempted in a parking lot in the 700 block of Circle Drive East. The driver was slowed but then took off speeding again.
Air Support Unit (ASU) officers saw the suspect vehicle leave city limits, northbound on Highway 16.
The suspects abandoned the vehicle near Dalmeny and tried to run away.
ASU assisted Corman Park Police and RCMP members in catching the two suspects, who were believed to be under the influence of alcohol.
The driver, a 48-year-old Saskatoon man, was taken into custody by Saskatoon police and transported to detention.
He is facing two impaired driving-related charges along with evading police and dangerous driving.
