The number of active COVID-19 cases reported in Saskatchewan remained static at 58 on Tuesday.
There were seven new cases reported, with three in the Regina area, two in the north-central region and one each in the Saskatoon and south-central areas.
The total number of cases reported in the province increased to 1,669.
There were seven recoveries reported, moving that total so far to 1,587. To date, 24 residents of the province have died after testing positive for COVID-19.
Of the 58 active cases, 15 are in the Saskatoon area and nine are in the south-central region.
There are five each in the southwest, central-west, northwest and north-central areas, four each in the Regina and central-east regions, three in the far northwest, and two in the southeast. The location of one case has yet to be determined.
There is one person in intensive care in Saskatoon.
Of the total number of cases, 67 are health-care workers. There have been 838 community contacts, 493 cases without any known exposures, 254 travellers, and 84 cases that remain under investigation.
There have been 428 cases from the south area (218 southwest, 197 south-central, 13 southeast), 355 in the far north (349 far northwest, six far northeast), 276 from the Saskatoon area, 270 in the north zone (131 northwest, 73 north-central, 66 northeast), 203 in the central area (166 central-west, 37 central-east) and 136 in the Regina region. There’s one case pending.
The total includes 542 cases in the 20-to-39 age range, 506 between the ages of 40 and 59, 283 with people aged 60 to 79, 280 involving people 19 and under, and 58 in the 80-and-over range.
There were 1,035 tests done in Saskatchewan on Monday, increasing the provincial total to date to 151,772.
The number of tests could increase in the coming days, as a drive-through testing centre opened Tuesday in Regina.
Testing will be done in Hall C at the International Trade Centre at Evraz Place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
A similar centre is to open in Saskatoon on Thursday.
That facility will be at 3630 Thatcher Ave., and is to be open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from noon to 7:15 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
A valid Saskatchewan Health Card is all that’s required for each person getting tested.
