CJFL extends eligibility for 21- and 22-year-old players

Canadian Junior Football League players will get a chance to play out their final seasons.

The league announced it would be extending the eligibility of 22-year-old players for one season. As well, players who are 21 years old have been granted an additional year of eligibility for 2022.

To get the extended eligibility, affected players must have been on a 2019 CJFL roster, or registered with the CJFL prior to Aug. 6 of this year.

The CJFL cancelled the 2020 season on Aug. 6 due to COVID-19. The CJFL includes the Prairie Football Conference, in which the Regina Thunder and Saskatoon Hilltops play.

The league said it is focusing on returning to play in 2021 with a full season culminating in a Canadian Bowl national championship game.
