A 20-year-old Saskatoon man is facing charges after an incident involving a machete early Wednesday morning.
At about 2 a.m., police saw a man standing on the sidewalk near 20th Street West and Avenue J South.
In a release, police say the man was holding a machete and appeared to be in distress. When officers approached him, he ran away.
At one point, the man briefly challenged officers with the machete before throwing it into a yard, where it was later seized.
The man was arrested and police say it is believed he was under the influence of methamphetamine.
He is charged with possession of a dangerous weapon and breach of release conditions.
