Four people are dead following four crashes in Saskatchewan over the weekend.
As was reported earlier, a 20-year-old woman was killed Sunday when a vehicle rolled near Lebret. Two other people were hurt, including a boy under 16 whom police believe was the driver.
On Saturday at about 4:15 p.m., the Moose Jaw RCMP responded to a call of a collision between an SUV and a semi on the Trans-Canada Highway about 10 kilometres east of Moose Jaw.
Police learned an SUV travelling north on a grid road went through a stop sign at the intersection with the highway and struck the trailer of the eastbound semi.
The SUV caught fire and the 77-year-old man who was driving was pronounced dead at the scene. The 28-year-old man driving the semi wasn’t injured.
At about 7:30 p.m. Saturday, the North Battleford RCMP got a call about a single-vehicle crash on Highway 4 north of Cochin.
A 21-year-old woman who was a passenger in the vehicle was taken to hospital in Battlefords, but later died.
Police say the driver of the vehicle fled the scene and has yet to be located. The individual was wearing a red T-shirt, black pants and red shoes. The RCMP is asking the public for help in finding the driver and for more information about the investigation.
On Saturday at around 8:45 p.m., the Pelican Narrows RCMP responded to a single-vehicle collision on Highway 135 near Pelican Narrows.
The SUV involved was carrying seven occupants. A 28-year-old woman who was in the front passenger seat of the vehicle was ejected and killed.
Five other occupants — ages 17, 29, 30, 31 and 34 — were taken to hospital in Pelican Narrows or Flin Flon for treatment of their injuries.
The driver, a 22-year-old woman, left the scene of the accident but was later found at a clinic in Pelican Narrows. She was arrested and charged with impaired operation of a vehicle causing death.
The RCMP is continuing to investigate all four crashes.
