On Wednesday and throughout today, you’ll see why the NBA is the most player-led league.
Yesterday, the NBA took the players’ lead as all playoff games were postponed and the league immediately met with the players about moving forward with their boycott following Jacob Blake’s shooting in Wisconsin.
The boycott was led by the Milwaukee Bucks and other teams followed. The league heard and reacted.
For a while now, we’ve see the players and their agents take over the league with free agency and trades to set up superteams like the Miami Heat with LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh or now LeBron and Anthony Davis in Los Angeles.
But this is now much more meaningful — and meaningful dialogue is what is necessary. The players are in a tough spot to decide if that is more effective while playing or not.
Either way, we know what the NBA will do. It’ll follow the players’ lead.
It’s why LeBron James is the most powerful athlete in North American sports because where he leads, many tend to follow.
In fact, at times he’s been running the league on and off the court for quite some time.
