Mairin Loewen is looking to keep her spot as councillor for Ward 7 in Saskatoon.
Early Monday morning, Loewen launched her re-election campaign. She has represented Ward 7 since 2011, after growing up in the area.
“It has been an honour to serve the residents and neighbourhoods of Ward 7 on city council. I’m running again because I want to continue to work for residents to build safe, vibrant neighbourhoods and a sustainable, efficient city,” Loewen stated in a release.
Loewen has a background in public policy and has volunteered within the community with the Open Door Society, Heart of the City Piano Program and the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra. She’s a co-founder and organizer with Girls Rock Saskatoon.
“This is a challenging time for our community, and we need stable, focused leadership to ensure shared success for Saskatoon residents as we recover from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic,” Loewen said in Monday’s release.
Loewen is being challenged by local business owner Carol Reynolds.
Saskatoon’s municipal election is scheduled for Nov. 9.
