Saskatoon police won’t be laying charges after the disappearance of a four-year-old girl that prompted an Amber Alert earlier this week.
Police completed their investigation and determined there wasn’t any criminal activity in the case. It began when the girl was reported missing from her Devonshire Crescent home before being located at a home on 20th Street West the next day.
Detectives involved in the investigation say the child’s mother believed the child was in the care of a friend. After realizing her friend did not have the girl, the mother began her own search before calling the police.
The other woman involved in the incident called police once she saw the Amber Alert. Police say she left the Devonshire Crescent home with the child after a fight broke out inside the home. Police aren’t sure why the woman had the girl for an extended period of time.
The Ministry of Social Services was alerted by police after the girl was found. Victims services is continuing to offer support to those involved.
