Thanks to the Toronto Blue Jays for showing the entire baseball world that you never let off the gas.
The unwritten rules of baseball have been a topic of discussion this week after Fernando Tatis Jr., hit a grand slam while his San Diego Padres were up seven runs. Even his own manager didn’t like the kid swinging on a 3-0 count, with the bases loaded.
Of course the Texas Rangers threw behind Manny Machado, who was next up, to show their disapproval.
I don’t understand the logic why the Padres should stop trying to score runs. There were a few innings left and the last time I checked, there is no run limit per inning to avoid a comeback.
Enter the Blue Jays on Thursday afternoon. In the top of the first inning against Philadelphia, the Jays give up seven runs, proving that yes, you can give up seven in one inning.
So the Phillies should just let off the gas, right? No. Why? Because the Blue Jays stormed back and won the game 9-8.
You see why anybody criticizing Tatis should reconsider their outdated point of view.
