Temperature records fell in eight communities Wednesday as a heat wave continues across Saskatchewan.
According to Environment Canada meteorologist Mark Melsness, they included Broadview, Estevan, Indian Head, Last Mountain Lake, Moose Jaw, Regina, Weyburn and Wynyard.
Melsness said Weyburn was the hottest place in Canada yesterday, at 37.9 C.
In addition to breaking the 100 F mark, the city set a new record that had not been broken since 1960.
When the mercury rose to 36.9 C, the City of Regina broke a record dating back to 1933.
At 32.2 C, Saskatoon saw hot weather but did not set a new temperature record.
The province is in for another hot day with those in the south expecting to see daytime highs in the 30s. Heat warnings remain in effect across the southern half of Saskatchewan.
“There could be a record or two but probably not as many as were set in the last couple of days. Further north, (it will be) a little bit cooler. We’ve ended the heat warnings in areas north of the Yellowhead (Highway),” said Melsness.
A slight cool down is expected on Friday.
