The Health Sciences Association of Saskatchewan (HSAS) and the Saskatchewan Association of Health Organizations have ratified a new six-year contract.
The new collective bargaining agreement is retroactive to April 1, 2018 and runs until March 31, 2024.
Employees didn’t get wage increases in either of the first two years of the deal, but then get salary bumps of one, two, two and two per cent over the final four years.
According to a statement on the HSAS website, 84 per cent of members who returned ballots voted in favour of ratification.
“I want to commend the collaborative and sincere efforts made by both parties to reach an agreement, particularly in these challenging times of a pandemic,” Health Minister Jim Reiter said in a media release.
“This agreement will ensure these valued health professionals are able to continue to provide important health care services to Saskatchewan residents.”
HSAS represents more than 4,000 specialized health-care professionals in more than 30 professions in the province. They work in fields such as acute care, long-term care, primary health care and emergency medical services.
Last week, the Saskatchewan Medical Association also ratified a new deal with the province.
