The Saskatchewan government is announcing a 21st person is dead from COVID-19 as the province added 25 new cases on Saturday.
This person was in the South Central Zone and was in the 80 to 89 age range.
Out of the 25 new cases, there are 17 in the North West, two in the Saskatoon region and six in the South Central zones. Of Saturday’s new cases, 23 are from communal living situations.
There is also nine new recoveries throughout the province and eight people currently in hospital for treatment.
Three people are receiving inpatient care; Two in Saskatoon and one in Regina. Five people are in intensive care; Three in Saskatoon, one in the North Central region and one in the South West.
Of Saskatchewan’s 1,566 total reported cases, 189 are considered active. A total of 1,356 people have recovered.
Yesterday, 2,016 COVID-19 tests were performed in Saskatchewan.
The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is working toward increasing capacity to 4,000 tests in early September.
SHA is reminding people COVID-19 testing is available to anyone who requests it, regardless of symptoms. A referral for testing can be made by contacting HealthLine 811.
