A Manitoba man is feeling like a million bucks after winning a VLT jackpot at the Kipling Motor Inn.
The Western Canada Lottery Corporation said Friday that Bob Heintz of Newton, Man., had won $1,075,213.58 in the grand jackpot of Vault Breaker on Aug. 7.
“I saw the Vault Breaker come up, and I thought it was $1,000,” Heintz said in a media release. “A woman behind me said I had won a million dollars, but I said, ‘No, I won $1,000.’
“I stayed pretty calm when it was verified. It hasn’t really kicked in yet.”
Heintz said he plans to use his winnings for his retirement and to help his family.
According to the lottery corporation, Vault Breaker is a progressive jackpot that links 4,200 VLT machines across the province.
It features three tiers: A province-wide grand jackpot that has a minimum value of $500,000 and pays out before it hits $1.5 million; a regional major jackpot worth at least $5,000 that pays before it hits $25,000; and, a local site jackpot with a minimum of $100 that awards a prize before it reaches $500.
The lottery corporation said the province-wide jackpot has been won 13 times since June 2017 and has paid out $11,494,797.39.
