The COVID-19 pandemic has added a lot of stress for parents as kids prepare to head back to school in the fall.
Not only is safety top of mind so are school supplies.
Executive Director of the Saskatoon Salvation Army Judy Regamey told Brent Loucks Thursday they have seen a 20 per cent increase in families applying for their Back to School Supply Program.
The program provides families whose income has been impacted by COVID-19 with a backpack full of supplies for their children.
“We’re hoping to help 2,000 kids,” said Regamey.
“You might never need our help before or need it again. But if this is the year you need help we really want to ask people to just give us a call.”
The deadline to apply is Aug.15
The organization is still looking for donations and volunteers to fill the backpacks.
