Carolina Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind’Amour is getting fined $25,000 for being right.
He called out the ridiculous review of a Boston Bruins goal in the second period of their game Wednesday, after Brind’Amour challenged the goal.
You see, it was one of two things: A hand pass or goaltender interference.
The challenge means the Carolina head coach has to choose which one he’s challenging. He knew if it wasn’t a hand pass, it was goaltender interference, but if it was goaltender interference, it wasn’t going to be a hand pass.
He picked hand pass. He lost the challenge, the goal stood and Carolina got charged with a delay-of-game penalty. Thankfully the Canes scored a shorthanded goal, so it evened up a bit anyway.
There’s an easy solution: When a goal is scored, the coach wants to challenge and you see a mistake was made in the review, change the result.
When you don’t do that, it’s horse-bleep and a joke like Brind’Amour said it was.
That’s an expensive bill for Brind’Amour for speaking the truth.
