A 29-year-old man from the Kamsack area has been charged with impaired driving causing death after a fatal SUV-pedestrian collision Thursday near the Keeseekoose First Nation.
According to the RCMP, officers from the Kamsack detachment got a call just before 3:30 a.m., about a collision on Highway 8 near the First Nation, just north of Kamsack.
At the scene, police and Duck Mountain Ambulance personnel found a 23-year-old pedestrian had been killed in the collision. The man was from the Kamsack/Cote First Nation area.
The driver of the SUV was arrested at the scene and charged with one count of impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death and one count of impaired operation of a motor vehicle over .08 causing death.
He’s to make his first appearance in Kamsack Provincial Court on Oct. 6.
