The Nutrien Children’s festival is back, but it’s not going to feel like past years.
Organizers moved this year’s celebration online amid COVID-19 restrictions.
The month-long celebration started Monday on the festival’s Youtube page.
Darcie Young, manager of the festival, spoke to 650 CKOM about the excitement surrounding this year’s festivities.
“We were able to reach out to communities throughout the province, it’s a game-changer,” said Young. “We were able to include more programs this year because of it being moved online.”
Cooking workshops, science labs and sign language classes are just some of the programs offered by the festival, tailoring to a wide arrangement of interests and age groups.
“We wanted it to be as inclusive as possible,” she said.
Juno winner Fred Penner and Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield are just two of the special guests for this year’s festival.
