Saskatoon fire crews were busy on Saturday morning.
The Saskatoon Fire Department received multiple calls of black smoke coming from a home in the 800 Block of 20th Street West.
When they arrived, they found a small bungalow with smoke billowing from the exterior.
Firefighters found the blaze in the basement and were able to extinguish it quickly.
No one was injured in fire, but a cat was found dead in the basement—where the fire originated.
The fire was accidental as a result improper disposal of smoking materials, firefighters said in a media release.
Damage is estimated at approximately $25,000.
