It was a busy Monday evening for Saskatoon police as they responded to three calls involving weapons, two of which involved assaults.
At around 6 p.m., police responded to a report of a stabbing in the Mayfair neighbourhood.
When they arrived at the 1400 block of Avenue E North, they found a 34-year-old woman suffering from two stab wounds.
She told police she had been stabbed by two women who were known to her.
Police found one of the women, who was in possession of two throwing knives.
The 38-year-old woman was taken into custody and charged with assault with a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon and breach of a court order.
The other 48-year-old woman is still outstanding and a warrant has been requested for her arrest.
Then, just before 7 p.m., police were flagged down in the 600 block of Idylwyld Drive and told a robbery had just taken place.
A man with a machete had smashed the complainant’s window, stolen his phone and cut him with the machete.
The injuries were minor and medical attention wasn’t necessary.
Two men were seen running into a nearby suite and were apprehended without incident. The machete used in the robbery was recovered.
A 29-year-old man was to appear in court Tuesday.
In another incident, police arrested a 37-year-old man in the City Park neighbourhood after reports he had a handgun.
At around 5:30 p.m., police were called to the 500 block of Fourth Avenue North after it was reported a man was walking down the street with a gun, pointing it at another man.
When police arrived, they found a man matching the suspect’s description and a replica Glock Model .22 handgun.
The man was taken into custody and charged with carrying a weapon dangerous to the public peace.
