Wind warnings are in effect for areas of southwestern Saskatchewan.
Environment and Climate Change Canada issued the warnings Wednesday morning for areas around Kindersley, Rosetown, Biggar, Wilkie, Macklin, Leader, Gull Lake, Shaunavon, Maple Creek, Val Marie, Cypress Hills, Swift Current, Herbert, Cabri, Kyle and Lucky Lake.
“This morning, gusty westerly winds associated with a low pressure system over central Saskatchewan have developed over west-central and southwestern Saskatchewan,” the alert read.
“This afternoon, as the low strengthens, winds will shift to northwesterly and increase to 70 (kilometres per hour) gusting to 90 km/h. These warning level winds will gradually diminish this evening.”
On Tuesday, winds in some Saskatchewan communities exceeded 100 km/h. In Mankota, for example, gusts topped out at 141 km/h.
