A 29-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman, both from Saskatoon, are facing more than 100 charges between them for drug trafficking and firearms offences.
The investigation began on April 9 when patrol officers responded to a report of a disturbance in the 2400 block of Arlington Avenue.
A man was reported to be banging on the windows of a home in the area. When police arrived, they found the man in a nearby vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.
A search of the vehicle located three firearms — one of them loaded — as well as cocaine, methamphetamine and cash.
Following the arrest, the Guns and Gangs Unit conducted a search of a home in the 1000 block of Avenue H North. Inside the home, they found a sawed-off rifle, various rifle parts that had been broken down, and a money counter.
An additional search was conducted at a storage unit in the 3900 block of Wanuskewin Road on April 12. Inside the unit investigators located five firearms and various types of ammunition and modified firearms parts.
Investigators believe the weapons were acquired, modified and trafficked for use by members of street gangs in Saskatoon.
The 29-year-old man is facing about 80 charges, including possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine, possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine and possession of the proceeds of crime.
The 27-year-old woman is facing 28 firearm-related charges.
