It’s starting to look like NHL commissioner Gary Bettman is going to be forced into putting at least one of the two hub cities in Canada.
When you see the COVID-19 cases down south, compared to what Canada is doing, I wouldn’t hesitate to make both hub cities in Canada.
Canada and we Canadians have done a pretty good job listening to provincial health orders and have flattened the curve as well as we could.
In the United States, well, the spike in June was as high as it was three months ago. It’s actually so bad that more and more players are starting to question why they’re even trying to make this work. The NBA’s hub city is in Florida, which has had more than 15,000 new cases over the last five days.
We also know leagues are coming back because it’s about money, so let’s also talk money. The money the NHL saves doing these games in Canada working with the Canadian dollar is another big advantage.
While I’ve found the campaigning out of Edmonton to be a little much, everything points to Canada being the right place to end the NHL season.
