A quick response, coupled with a fire attack strategy, meant a wildfire near Saskatoon’s wastewater plant was brought under control Monday.
Just after 1 p.m., Saskatoon Fire Department was informed of a grass fire along the riverbank near the Silverwood Heights neighbourhood. It responded to the east end of Adilman Drive to develop the fire strategy.
Crews found the small, but growing fire near the fence line of the Wastewater Treatment Plant. It was brought under control just over a half an hour later, with crews continuing to extinguish the remaining hot spots shortly thereafter.
No one was injured and no structures were at risk due to the blaze. Its unknown what caused the fire.
