The Good Fortune Kitchen in Balgonie caught fire on Sunday morning.
While on a jog Lisa Berezowsky noticed an unusual amount of smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe at the restaurant around 11:45 a.m.
That’s when she jumped into action and ran inside to warn the people inside to get out.
“If I never would have went in there they wouldn’t have known or maybe they wouldn’t have been able to escape until the fire spread to the rest of the restaurant,” she told 980 CJME.
Once they were safely outside the fire spread quickly.
“Within minutes the fire, just overtaking the back of the building and eventually the roof caught fire and the police and fire (fighters) were on scene,” Berezowsky said.
Emergency crews working at the scene told her no one was hurt.
The building, just off the TransCanada was destroyed.
Berezowsky says she’s glad she trusted her gut.
“You see something that is wrong, or even in your gut, and you’re not sure maybe just go and check it out because you never know if it could be something more.”
