For the second straight day, there weren’t any more recoveries from COVID-19 reported in Saskatchewan.
And for the second straight day, there were two new cases reported.
In a media release Wednesday, the provincial government said there was one new case in the Saskatoon region and one in the southern region.
It’s the first case reported in the south since May 29.
The total number of cases to date in Saskatchewan is 658. Recoveries remained at 624; the province hadn’t gone consecutive days without a single recovery since April 26-27.
To date, 13 Saskatchewan residents have died due to complications from the virus.
There now are 21 active cases in the province, with seven in the far north, seven in the Saskatoon area, four in the Regina region, two in the south and one in the north. There aren’t any active cases in the central region.
One person is in intensive care in Saskatoon.
Of the total number of cases, 395 are community contacts, 145 are travellers, 78 don’t have any known exposures and 40 remain under investigation by local public health officials.
There have been 261 cases in the far north, 175 from the Saskatoon area, 112 in the north, 80 from the Regina area, 18 in the south and 12 from the central region.
To date, 51 Saskatchewan health-care workers have contracted the disease, although not all were exposed in work settings.
The total number of cases includes 233 in the 20-to-39 age range, 199 between the ages of 40 and 59, 110 in the 60-to-79 age range, 98 among people aged 19 or under, and 18 in the 80-and-over range.
The 605 tests done Tuesday increase the province’s total to date to 53,116.
