Visible smoke running through a hallway at St. Paul’s Hospital Sunday morning caused some concern for those in the facility.
The smoke was reported just after 9:30 a.m. at the hospital, with fire crews responding in under four minutes.
Upon arrival, crews determined the smoke was coming from a large, but malfunctioning, transformer on the outside of the facility. It caused smoke to enter a small section of the hallway.
A short power outage was reported, but the back-up generators restored and maintained the power to the building.
Utility technicians from the City of Saskatoon responded, with firefighters remaining on scene until the high-voltage transformer was deemed safe.
No one was injured in the incident.
