SaskPower is reminding farmers to keep an eye out for power lines.
Over the last two weeks, they’ve responded to 63 incidents where heavy machinery has collided with power lines.
Scott McGregor, a SaskPower spokesperson, said that’s actually a slightly below-average number of collisions.
He explained it’s mostly large equipment that can cause problems.
“It’s machinery that’s tall, it’s big, like air seeders and augers. People get really comfortable driving these big implements, and they don’t realize how big they are when they’re driving close to power lines. We just want to make sure everyone realizes how big they are,” he explained.
So, what should you do if you accidentally hit power lines?
“We recommend people stay in the cab of their vehicle and give us a call at 306-310-2220. We’ll send a crew out and make sure the area’s safe.”
