A 37-year-old Saskatoon man is facing child pornography charges after an investigation by the Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit.
Police said in a release Friday the investigation began in December into a person sharing child pornography using a popular social media chat application.
On Thursday, members of the Saskatchewan ICE Unit executed a search warrant at a home in Saskatoon that had been identified as the location where the offences were occurring.
Child pornography was located at the residence and two cellular phones, two laptops, two external hard drives and a cloud account were seized for further forensic analysis.
Steve A. McEwen was arrested at the home and has been charged with two counts of possession of child pornography and making available child pornography.
McEwen appeared in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Thursday and was released from custody on several conditions. He is scheduled to be back in court on Aug. 10.
The Saskatchewan ICE Unit is comprised of investigators from the RCMP, Regina Police Service, Saskatoon Police Service and Prince Albert Police Service. Its mandate is to investigate crimes involving the abuse and/or exploitation of children on the Internet.
