Two wildfires in north-central Saskatchewan have prompted a emergency advisory alert from the province.
Residents in the RM’s of Garden River and Torch River received the wildfire alerts just under an hour apart Sunday morning, with the public being asked to “be ready to take action should an evacuation be required.”
This morning, the province sent out two alerts of wildfires in the RM’s of Torch River and Garden River.
Residents in the communities of Smeaton, Snowden and Shipman are being asked to be “ready to take action should an evacuation be required.”

The public is also being asked to avoid travel within the area.
A wildfire is currently burning along the northwest edge of the RM of Torch River, from Range Road 2185 west to Range Road 2220, causing the alert within Torch River.
The wildfire is affecting the communities of Smeaton, Snowden and Shipman.
A separate wildfire, located within the Fort a la Corne Forest, “has serious potential to cause emergency situations for the public,” according to the SaskAlert.
Heavy smoke may be experienced in Meath Park and Weirdale.
The public is being asked to close doors, windows and vents and take all necessary precautions.
