Frontline essential workers will be celebrated this weekend in Saskatoon.
Mayor Charlie Clark is encouraging everyone in the city to step outside and make some noise to thank everyone from healthcare workers to grocery store staff. He’s calling it Cheer for Heroes.
The first go at it will be Saturday at 7 p.m, a common shift switching time for hospital staff.
“Take a minute on Saturday night, get some pots and pans, noisemakers, use your voice, you could sing.”
If it goes well, Clark hopes to make it a weekly tradition.
“It’s really important that we keep sending the message to those workers that we’ve got their backs, because they’ve got our backs in so many ways.”
