A 15-year-old boy has been charged after another youth was assaulted in a Saskatoon park Monday.
Just before 5 p.m., Saskatoon police officers responded to a report of bear spray being deployed at someone in a park in the 3500 block of John A. MacDonald Road.
Two male youths were reported to have fled the area.
A patrol officer was able to quickly locate one of the suspects. The Air Support Unit was able to locate the second one and direct ground units to his location.
Officers found bear spray in the second youth’s backpack when he was arrested.
The 13-year-old victim was found to be suffering from the effects of bear spray, but was otherwise not seriously injured.
The 15-year-old was charged with assault with a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon and wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence.
The other youth wasn’t charged.
