Las Palapas Resort Grill is turning to Facebook to try and track down a smiling sun chiminea that has sat in its patio area for years.
In a post on Tuesday, the Victoria Avenue Restaurant explained the freestanding clay fireplace was gone.
To our dear friends and Nutana neighbours we need your help! For years we have had our beautiful Smiling Sun Chiminea…

“Someone has helped themselves to it and we would really like it back,” the post read. “If you can help us with its return we would happily reward you a $100 gift card to Las Palapas.”
Restaurant staff plan to give updates on the Facebook page.
On Wednesday the chiminea was still missing, but they say they found more sunshine.
“Our intention in posting was to hopefully find our missing sunshine. Instead, we found another source – all of you that opened your hearts and shared our loss, albeit a small one when comparing it to the sad unfolding of the current crisis across the world,” another post said.
Las Palapas closed its doors at the end of business on March 17 because of the COVID-19 pandemic and plans to resume food service soon.
