The snow is all but gone, which means conditions are becoming prime for grass fires.
Late Thursday afternoon, Saskatoon fire crews were called to a brush fire on a private acreage near the Beaver Creek Conservation Area.
Heavy smoke was observed by arriving crews and roughly three acres of land and miscellaneous items in the yard had burned, said a media release.
Fire engines, water tankers, brush trucks, a rescue unit and support staff worked to contain the fire, which the fire department said was extinguished before midnight.
Because the area falls outside of the Saskatoon Fire Department’s investigative jurisdiction, there isn’t a cause and damage estimate at this time.
